Patient Support & Liaisons

At Infinity Orthotics, Prosthetics and Rehab Science, patient care extends beyond the device itself. We understand that limb loss, limb difference, mobility challenges, and recovery can affect every part of a person’s life, physically, emotionally, and practically.

That is why our Patient Liaisons provide encouragement, education, and real-world support for patients and families throughout the care journey.

Support From People Who Understand

Infinity’s Patient Liaisons bring a unique and meaningful perspective to the patients they serve.

Shawn McKearin, Huntsville Patient Liaison, and Josh Watkins, Shoals Area Patient Liaison, are both above-knee amputees, Infinity patients, and members of the Infinity team. Their lived experience allows them to connect with patients and families in a way that is personal, practical, and deeply encouraging.

They understand many of the questions, emotions, challenges, and milestones that can come with limb loss and prosthetic care. Their role is not to replace clinical care, but to provide an added layer of support from people who have walked through similar experiences and can offer guidance, encouragement, and real-world insight.

Encouragement, Education, and Real-World Support

Our Patient Liaisons help patients and families by offering:

  • Encouragement from someone with lived experience
  • Practical insight into daily life with limb loss
  • Support for patients adjusting to a new prosthesis
  • Education for families and caregivers
  • Help connecting patients with local support resources
  • A compassionate presence throughout the journey

Whether a patient is preparing for a first prosthesis, adjusting to a new device, returning to daily activities, or looking for community support, Infinity’s Patient Liaisons are here to help patients and families feel seen, understood, and supported.

Community Connection

Infinity is proud to help connect patients and families with local resources for limb loss support, including Empower Amputee & Family Support Network.

Led by Shawn McKearin and Josh Watkins, Empower provides community, encouragement, and connection for amputees and their families in North Alabama, with support group opportunities in the Shoals area and Huntsville.

You Are Not Alone

Limb loss and mobility challenges can feel overwhelming, but no patient should have to navigate that journey alone.

At Infinity, our Patient Liaisons are here to provide real-world support, encouragement, and connection so patients and families feel informed, understood, and supported every step of the way.
